Key Attributes for a Fire Alarm Installer in Ireland:

Accreditation & Qualifications

  • RECI (Safe Electric) Registration – if the installer is doing any electrical work.

  • NSAI Certification (National Standards Authority of Ireland) – indicates compliance with Irish standards.

  • Fire Alarm Installer Certification Scheme – some may be certified under schemes recognized by the Electrotechnical Council of Ireland (ETCI).

  • FETAC/QQI Qualifications – relevant training in fire detection and alarm systems.

Standards Compliance

  • Installer must follow IS 3218:2013 + A1:2019Irish Standard for Fire Detection and Alarm Systems for Buildings.

    • This governs design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarm systems.

  • Familiarity with IS 3217 (Emergency Lighting), and IS EN 54 (product standards for fire detection equipment).
